Bono was born on May 10, 1960 in Dublin, Ireland. His father Brendan Robert Hewson is a Catholic postal worker and mother Iris was a Protestant. She died suffering with brain haemorrhage when he was only 14 years old. He has an elder brother. His parents had decided to raise their first child as an Anglican and second as a Catholic. But as the two children were growing up together Bono often followed his mother and brother to the Church of Ireland service. Bono is a Christ believer and a lot of his song lyrics are mainly based on themes of social, political and Christian beliefs.
He got married to his childhood sweetheart Alison Hewson in the year 1982 and is blessed with two daughters Jordan and Memphis Eve and two sons Elijah Bob PatriciusGuggi Q and John Abraham. Being a global charity activist he makes contributions towards many social organizations, one of which was a Charity named World Vision, an Evangelical Christian Humanitarian aid, development and advocacy organisation for which he travelled to Ethiopia with his wife.
