Her aunt Rosemary Clooney was a jazz singer and actress of the fifties; his cousin is the actor Gabriel Ferrer, son of Jose Ferrer and married to singer Debby Boone. He grew up under strict Catholic discipline.

George Timothy Clooney is the son of Nina Bruce Warren, former Miss Lexington and councilman, and Nick Clooney, a former television presenter. He has an older sister, Adelia (Ada). The family returned to Kentucky when he was in seventh grade.

Clooney suffered from Bell’s palsy, a facial paralysis disappeared within months. After they moved to Augusta, Kentucky, he attended Augusta High School. He played baseball and basketball and wanted to become a professional baseball player with the Cincinnati Reds in 1977 but did not pass the first round of applicants. He attended Northern Kentucky University during 1979 to 1981 where he got the specialization in broadcast journalism however was not able to complete the graduation.
