Named Eric Marlon Bishop by her parents, Jamie Fox is an American actor, comedian singer rapper and producer. He took his professional name when he started comedy at a comedy club in 1989 so that his identity will remain ambiguous as he noticed that female comedians were given more chance to perform.

Both of his parents, Darrel Bishop and Louise Annette Talley Dixon, were African American. He was not raised by his biological parents but rather adopted and raised by his maternal grandmother, Esther Marie Nelson who had earlier adopted his mother too.

Jamie fox, who now has two daughters, started with making jokes with his mates at school and playing piano when he was still a kid before joining a comedy club.
